Connecticut DUI Defense attorney, Diane Polan has been practicing law in New Haven for 25 years. She is a graduate of Yale University (B.A. magna cum laude, 1973) and the Yale Law School (J.D. 1980). She began her private practice of law in 1980 as a partner in New Haven's first all-women law firm, Levine, Kuriloff and Polan, where she practiced for ten years, focusing on criminal defense, family law, consumers' rights and representing tenants in housing court. She then joined Williams and Wise, one of New Haven's leading civil rights firms, where she continued litigating divorce and custody matters, as well as police misconduct and other civil rights cases. She also expanded her criminal defense practice to include state and federal courts and criminal appeals.
In 1999, Drunk Driving criminal defense lawyer Diane Polan established the Law Offices of Diane Polan, LLC, where she specializes in criminal and civil litigation. Approximately half of Attorney Polan's practice consists of representing individual clients in criminal and motor vehicle cases in the Connecticut state courts and in the United States District (federal) court. She also handles state and federal criminal appeals, sentence modifications, and habeas corpus petitions for prisoners. Her civil practice focuses on civil rights litigation, including police misconduct cases, constitutional rights and employment discrimination cases.
Connecticut DUI Defense attorney, Diane Polan is admitted to practice in all of the Connecticut trial and appellate courts. She is also a Member of the Bar of the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.
In addition to her private practice of law, Attorney Polan has taught Trial Practice at the Yale Law School. She also serves as a Special Master in the Regional Family Trial Docket in Middletown. In 1975, she co-authored The Pro Se Dissolution Kit, a book to assist people with handling their own divorces. Attorney Polan is also a contributor to a legal anthology entitled The Politics of Law. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the New Haven Legal Assistance Association. In 2000, she received a Pro Bono award from the Connecticut Bar Association.
